Namespaces with subpages[edit]

I've noticed during creating/editing documentations of templates that if viewed directly they display at the top of the page:

This is the documentation page for XXX/doc.

But this is not correct. It should be:

This is the documentation page for XXX

The code for the displayed link is: [[{{NAMESPACE}}:{{BASEPAGENAME}}]]. This should be correct.

On the magic words help page from mediawiki I found the following: “The {{BASEPAGENAME}} and {{SUBPAGENAME}} magic words only work in namespaces that have subpages enabled.” I conclude from this, that on paradox wikis subpages are not enabled for the template namespace.

If my conclusion is right, can you enable subpages for the template namespace? (Or does something speak against it?) Or should I change the code to [[{{NAMESPACE}}:{{#titleparts: {{PAGENAME}} | -1 }}]] (which should produce the desired result)? – Lillebror (talk) 10:25, 23 May 2015 (CEST)

Done. The text should now display correctly. ~ Meneth (talk) 11:19, 23 May 2015 (CEST)
Thanks. – Lillebror (talk) 13:26, 23 May 2015 (CEST)

Account Deletion[edit]

I am unable to find a way to delete my account, it seems there is no page to explain how to do this Ottawakismet

There's no process to delete an account from the wikis. Sorry for the slow response; my internet was malfunctioning yesterday and this morning. ~ Meneth (talk) 15:17, 25 August 2015 (CEST)

Table styles[edit]

I've noticed a lot of articles here have a horrible set of styles applied with a mid-grey background that makes them painful to read due to poor contrast. I'd like to replace a lot of them with mildtable as on EU4wiki, but the style doesn't exist and MediaWiki:Common.css is protected. Would it be possible to add it? Hairy Dude (talk) 00:38, 27 September 2015 (CEST)

The stylesheet, which includes mildtables, has now been synced to all the wikis. Mediawiki:Vector.css rather than common.css is used for historical reasons. ~ Meneth (talk) 10:30, 27 September 2015 (CEST)

At the moment the search does not function correctly.

The search box on every page leads to existing pages. That's all. No autocomplete, no alternatives.

The search page displays an arror message instead of relults:

Warning: Search backend error during full_text search for 'test' after 1. Couldn't connect to host, Elasticsearch down? [Called from CirrusSearch\ElasticsearchIntermediary::failure in /var/www/shared/extensions/CirrusSearch/includes/ElasticsearchIntermediary.php at line 97] in /var/www/shared/includes/debug/MWDebug.php on line 302

An error has occurred while searching: We could not complete your search due to a temporary problem. Please try again later.

The search engine seems to have crashed. It is back up and running now, and search should work once more. ~ Meneth (talk) 09:53, 28 October 2015 (CET)

Non-Paradox Mods[edit]

I was going to create pages for the various mods for Victoria II that are not hosted on the Paradox website (notably HPM). However since this wiki is affiliated with Paradox I thought this may create some problems. Is it acceptable to create these pages (maybe I should remove links) or should I not write them at all? --The B (talk) 18:10, 30 March 2016 (CEST)

There's currently a number of mods not hosted on the forums that have wiki pages within the network. ~ Meneth (talk) 18:38, 30 March 2016 (CEST)
Alright, thanks. I just wanted to make sure in case I wrote a lot and then had it deleted. --The B (talk) 15:11, 31 March 2016 (CEST)

Europa Universalis IV Wiki (ru)[edit]

I'm the founder of the russian wiki for Europa Universalis IV and I have a few questions. I'll be glad if you answer them or tell, who can answer them.

1) For each license file Paradox© we give information on the relevant copyright and the information that these files belong only to the company's Paradox (yes, each small icon :) ). Is this enough or should we do something else? 2) What do you think about the idea of spread of information about the game in wiki format to other languages? We love the game and we didn't want to have problems. Thanks in advance and have a nice day. Sorry for my bad English. =) --Krizalis (talk) 00:24, 16 May 2016 (CEST)

Good evening.
You should talk to PR about copyright issues. You can email them at pr[AT]
I wish you the best of luck. The more people that are able to find the info they're looking for, the better. ~ Meneth (talk) 00:27, 16 May 2016 (CEST)
Thanks you very much and good luck. =) --Krizalis (talk) 09:39, 16 May 2016 (CEST)

External links[edit]

I was attempting to add some tutorials to the [Modding] page, which would be links to Google Docs documents as various users on the modding Discord server have created short informational documents to help aid other users in getting started in one way or another, e.g. how to add new traits or new building categories. The wiki prevents me from linking to these documents. --Draco18s (talk) 10:01, 26 March 2018 (CEST)

Permission error when creating account[edit]

On this and presumably all other Paradox wikis, when you Edit while not logged in, you are presented with a dialog asking you to log in or create an account. However, "create an account" leads to "Permission Error," leading new users to conclude that they are not allowed to create accounts. Calorion (talk) 17:02, 2 December 2018 (CET)

Thanks for informing me. I've updated the message so that it now simply takes the user to the login page, since that also handles account creation. ~ Meneth (talk) 17:08, 2 December 2018 (CET)
That fixes the issue on this wiki, but not, for instance, on the Surviving Mars wiki. Calorion (talk) 17:15, 2 December 2018 (CET)
Missed that wiki, thanks. Pretty much all of them should now have it. ~ Meneth (talk) 17:17, 2 December 2018 (CET)
